Imagine being invited to a renowned television studio, your heart racing with anticipation as you prepare to share your family's journey with a wide audience. This was our incredible experience when we received an invitation from Ms. Annalyn Villolata to participate in a family interview at the SBS Australia studio in Artarmon, Sydney.
Our hearts filled with excitement, we took an hour drive to the northern part of Sydney, same day when we dropped off our lolas at the airport for their flight back to Manila, Philippines.
As we approached the colossal office building, the iconic SBS logo greeted us, a symbol we had seen countless times while watching the news on television. This was our chance to see behind the scenes and experience being a part of the SBS content production process.
Parking arrangements had been made for us by Ms Annalyn ensuring a smooth start to our day. With our car safely parked in the visitor parking area, we made our way inside and we can see our children wide-eyed with wonder at the vibrant design and bustling atmosphere. “Blaire: Mommy, what is this place?”
Entering the building, we registered our family details with the security system and captured a cute family group photo that left a smile on the security officer’s face. After a brief wait, we were warmly welcomed by Ms. Shiela and Ms. Edelyn, two dedicated production staff for SBS Filipino. They guided us to the audio studio rooms where our interview segment would take place.
The interview was a delightful, relaxed affair, filled with laughter and genuine interest from the production team. Their professionalism and sincerity shone through as they delved into our family's migrant story. The focus was on the challenges we faced as a young family in Australia, navigating the intricacies of work and life without the support of extended family and relatives living with us in Australia.
Our children, Blaire and Bryle, brought their enthusiasm to the interview, marveling at the studio equipment, even if they didn't fully grasp the significance of the moment. Ms. Annalyn, our main contact, joined the conversation, bridging our stories and experiences as a family in Australia.
We were given the opportunity to introduce Daddy Barry's published book, "The Perfect Husband Playbook," available on Kindle and paperback versions. This self-help book, written from a family-focused perspective, aims to help husbands and fathers become better partners and dads, living their best lives in a harmonious family setting.

We captured numerous photos and videos, the studio staff's warmth and support making us feel truly welcome. This SBS studio interview was an unforgettable chapter in our lives, one we eagerly awaited to watch and listen to on radio, podcast episode and video.
To the incredible staff at SBS Australia and SBS Filipino, we extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for making our family interview a cherished memory. We look forward to sharing our story with the world, hoping to inspire and connect with families like ours, navigating the beautiful journey of migration and family life in Australia.
